What Is Steam Carpet Cleaning (Hot Water Extraction)?
Despite the name, true “steam cleaning” doesn’t blast carpets with steam. Hot water extraction works in one continuous, powerful pass:
- Hot water (95°C+) and a cleaning solution are injected deep into the carpet pile under pressure.
- The fibres are worked so the solution can break the bond between soil and fibre.
- High-powered suction pulls the dirt, allergens, bacteria, solution and most of the moisture straight into the truck’s holding tank.
Because the water is heated and the suction is far stronger than any portable machine, hot water extraction removes more soil and leaves carpets only lightly damp – which is why they dry so quickly.
